Wilder
In mid 2000, Peter Bruce Wilder pulled together recordings spanning two decades to create a retrospective of just a small portion of the hundreds of songs composed over the years. Here are excerpts from the CD text:
"I possess an extremely average singing voice. This has never stopped me from wanting to sing my own material, however sloppy the result. Better vocalists are everywhere. But paying them and scheduling, and let's see what other excuses I can come up with...""I fell into my first song somewhere between the ages of 10-12. It repetitively moved the third in an F major chord from B flat to A. It was average. Maybe worse. Regardless, it rudely awakened a primary outlet for self expression and has evolved over the years into fairly comprehensive diary of over 400 songs, lyrics, poetry and stories (to date). They show where I have been emotionally and topically for the past quarter century."
"The selected songs on these two discs are not arranged in chronological order. They are presented in a way that makes some wacky type of sense to me. Dates follow each song to indicate when they were written and when they were recorded."
"There are scores of people to thank for their contributions to these recordings. Most aren't listed here. Background vocals on some of these recordings have been graciously performed by Meg Chambers, Christine Lynch Adler, Lane Gibson, Daniel Guy, and Christina Stycos. Several recordings were engineered and mixed by Lane Gibson (who also played guitar on a couple of tracks). Some of the earliest recordings were engineered and mixed by Douglas Lang; with Harry Thompson, drums and Peter Persechino, bass. Valued critiques have come from David Blair, Mary Collins, Meg Chambers, Michael Couture, David Geer, Lane Gibson, Robin Gottfried, Ten Broeck Heussler, Henry Huston, Doug Lang, Christine Lynch, Matt McCarthy, Sandy Paritz, James Robertson, Jimmy Starbuck, Christina Stycos, Tracy Tomasi and Tracy Wolters."
"Recordings were made at Audiovisions/Burlington VT 1982-1984; Clic Studios, Stowe VT 1989 and in the 1990’s; three personal-use studios in Eden, Hyde Park and Morrisville VT. One small snip was recorded in January 1979. There are two nearly 80 minute CDs in the set, bundled in a two-in-one box. The song titles, play time, the dates they were written and the dates they were recorded, are listed here..."
